Elon Musk Faces Backlash Over Social Media Post
WASHINGTON — In a bold move that sparked controversy, tech mogul Elon Musk took to social media to make a statement regarding the safety of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. The US Secret Service is now “aware” of Musk’s post, in which he claimed that “no one is even trying” to assassinate the current US leaders.
Musk quickly deleted the post and clarified that it was meant as a joke. However, his timing couldn’t have been worse, coming just hours after a suspected attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump at a golf course in Florida.
Known for his close ties to Trump, Musk has faced criticism from many X users for his comments, which included a raised eyebrow emoji. Some have even accused him of incitement against the President and Vice President.
The White House didn’t hold back in condemning Musk’s post, calling it “irresponsible” and emphasizing that violence should never be encouraged or joked about. They stressed that there is no place for political violence in the country.
When approached for a comment, the US Secret Service remained tight-lipped, only acknowledging that they are “aware” of the situation. They assured that all threats related to their protectees are thoroughly investigated.
