Russian Strikes Kill Seven, Including Children, in Ukraine
KYIV — In a devastating series of events, two Russian strikes in Ukraine’s central Dnipropetrovsk region have resulted in the deaths of at least seven people, including two children, according to local officials.
The main city Dnipro’s station was targeted in one attack, while several homes in Synelnykove were hit in another. President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the attacks, emphasizing the urgent need for advanced air defences in all Ukrainian cities.
Additionally, Ukraine reported downing a strategic long-range bomber from Russia for the first time in a separate strike.
Among the casualties were an eight-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl who were killed in Synelnykove when private homes were struck by Russian missiles. Another two individuals lost their lives and over 20 were wounded in Dnipro when the train station and a five-storey building were hit.
President Zelensky reiterated the necessity for increased air defence systems and called on Ukraine’s allies to help combat Russian aggression. He recently visited Ukrainian troops in the Donetsk region and emphasized the critical need for military aid.
Earlier this week, Chernihiv was struck in Russia’s deadliest attack in recent times, leaving 18 dead and numerous injured. The situation has prompted discussions in the US Congress to provide military aid to Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces successfully brought down a Russian Tu-22M3 strategic bomber, which had launched a missile strike on Ukraine and eventually crashed in Russia’s Stavropol region. This marks a significant achievement in Ukraine’s efforts to defend against Russian aggression.
The ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia has escalated, with both sides engaging in deadly attacks and counterattacks. The international community continues to monitor the situation closely as tensions rise.
