LONDON Concert Tragedy: Man Dies After Fall at Oasis Show
LONDON — Oasis was left reeling on Sunday as its members expressed shock and sadness following the tragic death of a man who fell during the band’s concert at London’s iconic Wembley Stadium.
The Metropolitan Police sprang into action just before 10:30 p.m. on Saturday after receiving reports of an injured individual.
A man in his 40s was discovered with injuries consistent with a fall and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities are now urging witnesses or anyone in possession of phone video footage of the incident to step forward and assist with the investigation.
“We are shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of a fan at the show last night,” Oasis conveyed in a statement, extending their sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
The iconic Britpop group’s highly-anticipated tour, their first in 16 years, kicked off on July 4 in Cardiff, Wales. The ill-fated concert at Wembley was the fourth of seven planned shows.
Despite the somber turn of events, stadium officials confirmed that Sunday night’s performance would proceed as scheduled. — Agencies
