The city of Mumbai saw celebrities, industrialists, and politicians exercise their right to vote as polls opened in India’s financial capital during the ongoing nationwide election. This election will determine whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi will secure another five-year term in the world’s largest democracy.

Voting took place in six constituencies across Mumbai in Maharashtra, along with 43 others nationwide, as millions of citizens lined up at polling booths to decide the future leadership of the country.

Amidst the hustle and bustle of India’s richest city and the birthplace of Bollywood, a plethora of celebrities proudly displayed their ink-stained fingers after casting their votes, showcasing their participation in the democratic process.

Notable figures such as Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Mukesh Ambani were all seen fulfilling their civic duty by voting in the election.

After casting his ballot, actor Akshay Kumar expressed his desire to see India progress and become a developed and strong nation, urging fellow citizens to vote for what they believe is right.

Despite the star-studded turnout, voter turnout in Maharashtra remained relatively low at 54%, with Mumbai’s constituencies recording a range of 47-55%, according to data from the Election Commission.

The key players in the city’s election include Modi’s BJP, the Indian National Congress, and various factions of Shiv Sena, highlighting the diverse political landscape of Mumbai.

Mumbai, often referred to as the “city of dreams,” is a melting pot of extreme wealth and poverty, attracting migrants from all corners of the country in search of opportunities and fortune.

While the affluent and influential cast their votes, many migrant workers in the city face challenges in participating in the election due to logistical constraints and costs associated with traveling back to their home constituencies.

Issues such as inflation, education, and employment opportunities are top concerns for voters in Mumbai, reflecting the diverse needs and aspirations of the city’s populace.

As the election unfolds, citizens across Mumbai and India eagerly await the results that will shape the trajectory of the nation for the next five years.
