Shocking: Houthi claim Israeli airstrike assassinated PM in Sanaa

Israeli Airstrike Kills Prime Minister of Houthi-Controlled Government in Yemen

SANAA — The Houthis dropped a bombshell on Saturday, revealing that the prime minister of their rebel-controlled government in Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, was taken out by an Israeli airstrike, alongside several ministers.

The Houthis disclosed that Ahmed al-Rahawi, who had been leading as prime minister of the Houthi-led administration since August 2024, met his demise on Thursday when Israeli warplanes targeted a building in Sanaa during a government workshop to assess the activities of the past year.

The Israeli military verified on Thursday that they had “precisely struck a Houthi terrorist regime military target in the area of Sanaa,” yet refrained from immediate comment on the allegation that al-Rahawi was one of the casualties.

The Houthis have ramped up their assaults against Israel amid the ongoing conflict with Hamas in Gaza, launching missiles and drones towards Israeli territory and even attacking commercial ships in the Red Sea.

Although many of the projectiles are intercepted or disintegrate mid-air, the group has sworn to persist with the strikes in a show of solidarity with the Palestinians.

Just recently, Israeli bombardments rocked multiple areas of Sanaa, resulting in the deaths of at least 10 individuals and leaving over 100 wounded, as reported by the Houthi-run health ministry.

In recent times, Israel and a U.S.-led coalition have broadened their strikes on Houthi-controlled regions, including the capital and the vital Red Sea port city of Hodeida.

The Sanaa airport was rendered inoperable by Israeli attacks in May.

Back in May, the Trump administration unveiled an agreement with the Houthis to cease airstrikes in exchange for a halt in attacks on shipping. However, the Houthis clarified that the deal did not encompass their ongoing targeting of Israel or what they perceive as Israeli-aligned interests. — Agencies
