Gruesome Discovery: 20 Decomposed Bodies Found on Boat in Brazil
SAO PAULO — A chilling discovery has shocked authorities in northeastern Brazil as at least 20 severely decomposed bodies were uncovered on a boat off the coast.
The eerie find took place on the shores of Bragança, northeast of Pará, on April 13, according to the Brazilian Federal Public Ministry’s announcement on Sunday.
Two separate investigations have swiftly been launched in response to the macabre scene.
Although officials confirm the presence of at least 20 bodies on the vessel, the advanced state of decomposition has made it impossible to determine the exact number of fatalities that occurred on the boat.
While the identities of the deceased remain unknown, investigators informed CNN Brasil that they are believed to have originated from the Caribbean rather than Brazil.
