LONDON’S RADICAL PREACHER PLEADS NOT GUILTY TO TERROR OFFENSES
In a defiant stance, Anjem Choudary, the notorious radical preacher, has entered a plea of not guilty to two terror offenses linked to the banned group Al-Muhajiroun.
Accused of being a member of a proscribed organization and inciting support for it through public addresses, the 57-year-old appeared via video link at the Old Bailey to refute the charges.
Joining Choudary in the legal battle is Khaled Hussein, who also pleaded not guilty to charges connected to his alleged membership of the same extremist group.
The arrests of Choudary and Hussein took place on the same day in London and at Heathrow Airport, respectively, by counter-terrorism authorities on July 17, 2023.
Prosecutors claim that Hussein played a pivotal role in establishing Al-Muhajiroun’s Canadian branch, effectively acting under Choudary’s command.
The duo is set to face trial at Kingston Crown Court starting on June 4, with proceedings expected to span six to eight weeks.
Choudary is scheduled to make another court appearance at the Old Bailey on April 23 for further legal proceedings. — BBC
