LONDON ROYAL ENGAGEMENT: PRINCE OF WALES RETURNS TO DUTY AFTER WIFE’S CANCER REVEAL
LONDON — After spending the past three-and-a-half weeks by his wife’s side following her cancer diagnosis, the Prince of Wales is set to resume his royal duties.
His first engagement will take him to a food redistribution charity in Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey, on Thursday, followed by a visit to a youth center in west London that benefits from the charity’s work.
Catherine, Princess of Wales, shocked the public with her cancer diagnosis last month, revealed in a video message where she announced she was undergoing chemotherapy.
Since her abdominal surgery in January, Catherine has been out of the public eye, with plans to return to royal duties after Easter before her diagnosis.
In her message, she expressed gratitude for the support and understanding of the public during what she called an “incredibly tough couple of months” for their family.
Prince William, who has been by his wife’s side during her treatment, has also scaled back on official appearances, with his last engagement being a visit to housing initiatives in Sheffield in March.
Despite the challenges, the Prince of Wales is committed to shining a spotlight on community and environmental impact, as seen in his upcoming engagements with Surplus to Supper where he will assist in loading food deliveries and preparing meals.
“Protecting the environment for future generations is one of the Prince of Wales’s key priorities,” stated Kensington Palace.
