ROYAL SCANDAL: Norway’s Crown Princess’ Son Faces Rape Charges
In a shocking turn of events, the eldest son of Norway’s crown princess, Marius Borg Høiby, has been indicted on multiple charges, including rape, after a lengthy investigation, prosecutors revealed on Monday.
Oslo state attorney Sturla Henriksbø stated that Høiby could potentially face up to 10 years in prison if found guilty. The indictment, filed in Oslo district court, lists a total of 32 counts, ranging from rape and abuse in a close relationship to acts of violence and traffic violations. The severity of the accusations has sent shockwaves through the royal family and the nation as a whole.
Despite being the 28-year-old son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit and stepson of Crown Prince Haakon, Høiby does not hold a royal title or have any official duties. His troubled past, marked by repeated arrests on various allegations, has put him in the spotlight and under intense scrutiny.
While Høiby is currently free pending trial, Henriksbø clarified that there are no immediate plans to arrest and detain him. The upcoming trial is expected to commence in mid-January and could last up to six weeks, according to reports from NRK.
In response to the indictment, defense attorney Petar Sekulic stated that Høiby denies all charges of sexual abuse and most of the violence-related accusations. Sekulic emphasized that his client will provide a detailed account of his version of events during the court proceedings.
The royal palace has maintained a neutral stance on the matter, stating that it is now in the hands of the judicial system to handle the case and deliver a verdict. As the legal battle unfolds, the nation awaits the outcome of this unprecedented royal scandal. — Agencies
