Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones Announces New Food Manufacturing Plant
RIYADH — In a groundbreaking move aimed at revolutionizing local food production, the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON) has unveiled plans for the construction of a cutting-edge food manufacturing plant in Saudi Arabia.
The momentous agreement, inked on Sunday in Riyadh, designates a sprawling 117,000 square meter plot in Jeddah’s Third Industrial City as the site for this state-of-the-art facility.
The signing ceremony witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries including Bandar Al-Khorayef, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, and Eng. Majed Al-Argoubi, CEO of MODON, among other key officials.
The ambitious project is set to establish an innovative automated production line equipped with the latest technologies for packaging and filling materials, to be operated by a workforce of highly skilled and qualified national personnel within the food industry. This venture is anticipated to generate hundreds of direct and indirect employment opportunities.
Comprising a central warehouse, industrial service and facility buildings, an advanced laboratory, and an administrative center, the plant is slated to achieve a targeted production capacity of 15,000 tons annually in its initial phase.
Furthermore, this initiative is geared towards fortifying sustainable food security in Saudi Arabia, with the goal of catering to domestic demand while also exporting products to various markets across the Middle East and North Africa.
In alignment with the National Industrial Strategy, MODON is actively bolstering the food sector by fostering the development of food industry clusters within Jeddah’s Second and Third Industrial Cities. These clusters are strategically designed to enhance supply chains and drive exports by cultivating a comprehensive and supportive ecosystem. — SG
