The Rise of Victoria Kjær Theilvig: Denmark’s First Miss Universe Winner
In an electrifying event held in Mexico City, Victoria Kjær Theilvig of Denmark made history by being crowned Miss Universe 2024, marking the first time a Dane has claimed the prestigious title.
The 21-year-old multi-talented individual, known for her skills in competitive dancing, entrepreneurial spirit, and aspirations of becoming a lawyer, outshone over 120 other contestants to emerge victorious on Saturday night.
Amidst cheers and applause from fellow contestants, Theilvig received the coveted tiara from the previous titleholder, Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua.
The grand finale was a star-studded affair featuring a performance by singer Robin Thicke and was hosted by the dynamic duo of “Saved by the Bell” star Mario Lopez and former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo.
The competition kicked off with a dazzling display of national costumes, leading to the selection of the top 30 contestants based on their performance in the preliminary event. The semi-finalists then sashayed down the runway in swimwear before the top 12 advanced to the evening gown segment.

In her final message to viewers, Theilvig urged everyone to persevere and keep fighting for their dreams, regardless of their background or circumstances.
The competition saw Chidimma Adetshina of Nigeria securing the first runner-up position, followed by Maria Fernanda Beltran of Mexico as the second runner-up. Suchata Chuangsri of Thailand and Ileana Marquez Pedroza of Venezuela completed the top five, with Pedroza making history as a 28-year-old mother breaking barriers.
