SEOUL — The future of chart-topping K-pop sensation NewJeans hangs in the balance as their record label launches a legal battle to prevent the band from signing new contracts.
The five-piece group is embroiled in a bitter dispute with Ador, the entertainment company that brought them together in 2022. Last year, NewJeans alleged that their contracts were void due to claims of bullying and harassment within Ador, prompting the label to take legal action to uphold the agreements.

However, NewJeans has asserted their autonomy by creating a new Instagram account, “jeanzforfree,” for engaging with fans through live streams.
