Gruesome Discovery: Six Severed Heads Found in Central Mexico

In a shocking turn of events, six severed heads were found on a road in central Mexico, a region not typically known for cartel violence.

The grim discovery was made by local authorities early on Tuesday morning on a route connecting the usually peaceful states of Puebla and Tlaxcala.

While police have not disclosed a motive for the killings or identified the criminal groups responsible, local media reports suggest a message left at the scene by a group named “La Barredora” could be a clue.

Although “La Barredora” is a lesser-known criminal organization in Guerrero, it remains unclear if they orchestrated the attack or for what reason.

The local prosecutor’s office has confirmed that the severed heads belonged to men and has initiated an investigation into the heinous crime.

Aside from drug-trafficking, the region also grapples with fuel smuggling, known as “huachicolea”, which yields substantial profits for illicit groups.

Despite the severity of the incident, federal authorities have yet to provide any official statements regarding the gruesome discovery.

The unsettling event occurs amidst a government crackdown led by President Claudia Sheinbaum on fentanyl trafficking.

While Puebla and Tlaxcala are not typically hotspots for extreme cartel violence, other regions in Mexico have seen a surge in criminal activity.

Recent incidents include the discovery of 20 bodies, four decapitated, in Sinaloa, and the tragic killing of seven Mexican youths at a church celebration in Guanajuato.

Violence between cartels has escalated in recent years, resulting in countless casualties and disappearances since the government’s military intervention against gangs began in 2006. – BBC
