Germany Tightens Border Controls Amid Migration Crackdown
BERLIN — Germany has embarked on a bold new initiative to tighten controls at all of its land borders in a bid to crack down on migration. This move has put restrictions on the Schengen Zone, a vast area of free movement, and has sparked outrage among its European neighbors.

As of Monday, Germany has extended its existing border controls with Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, and Poland to include internal border controls with France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Denmark.
