Exciting News: Disney’s First UAE Theme Park!

Disney to Build Seventh Theme Park in United Arab Emirates

In a bold move, Disney has announced plans to construct its seventh theme park in the United Arab Emirates. The entertainment giant revealed the exciting news on Wednesday.

Location, Location, Location

The waterfront resort will be nestled on Yas Island, located on the outskirts of Abu Dhabi. This area is already a hub for entertainment, hosting events such as the Formula One Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, as well as popular attractions like the Ferrari and Warner Bros. amusement parks, SeaWorld, and a waterpark.

Abu Dhabi: The Rising Star

As the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi is a bustling metropolis within a federation of seven sheikhdoms on the Arabian Peninsula. With a population of 9 million people, the city has seen significant growth in tourism, thanks in part to its world-class airlines, Emirates and Etihad Airways.

Partnership for Success

Disney has teamed up with Miral, the Abu Dhabi developer overseeing the project, to tap into the 120 million airline passengers that travel through Abu Dhabi and Dubai each year. The collaboration aims to leverage the city’s increasing appeal as a tourist destination.

Breaking Stereotypes

While often perceived as more conservative compared to neighboring Dubai, Abu Dhabi is also a cultural hotspot. The city is home to the renowned Louvre Abu Dhabi, with more museums currently under construction.

Strategic Timing

The announcement of the theme park comes just ahead of US President Donald Trump’s visit to the region next week. Trump is expected to finalize business deals with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE during his trip.

Disney’s Role

Miral will be responsible for building and operating the theme park, while Disney will focus on design, development, and licensing its intellectual property. Disney will not provide capital for the project but will earn royalties and service fees based on the resort’s revenues.

Looking Towards the Future

With a planned investment of $60 billion in its theme parks over the next decade, Disney is committed to expanding its reach and revenue streams. The projected opening date for the UAE park has not yet been announced, but excitement is already building.
