Elevate Infusion Care Standards in MENAT with BD and INS!

BD Partners with INS to Enhance Infusion Care Practices in MENAT Region

In a groundbreaking move, BD (Becton, Dickinson, and Company) (NYSE: BDX), a key player in the global medical technology industry, has joined forces with the renowned nonprofit organization, Infusion Nurses Society (INS), at its Regional Headquarters in Riyadh. This strategic partnership aims to revolutionize infusion care practices in hospitals across the MENAT region.

This collaboration signifies a united front from both entities to elevate patient safety and healthcare quality through the implementation of standardized infusion therapy practices, a crucial step in the fight against healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) that plague hospitals worldwide.

HAIs are a pressing concern, affecting 5-15% of hospitalized patients in developed countries and reaching a staggering 9-37% among those admitted to intensive care units (ICUs). The World Health Organization reports that approximately 1 in 10 patients globally suffer harm while receiving healthcare, highlighting the urgent need for improved standards and training programs for healthcare professionals.

“We are excited to partner with INS to enhance infusion care practices in our region,” exclaimed Maher Elhassan, Vice President and General Manager of BD Middle East, North Africa, and Turkey. “This collaboration reflects BD’s unwavering commitment to patient safety and quality care by providing healthcare providers with cutting-edge standards and solutions to enhance patient outcomes and reduce healthcare risks. Together, we aim to cultivate a sustainable healthcare ecosystem in the MENAT region, promoting a culture of safety, efficiency, and excellence.”

The partnership will encompass a comprehensive program featuring Vascular Access Management (VAM) assessments, customized training, and educational initiatives for healthcare professionals. The ultimate goal is to establish Centres of Excellence in hospitals throughout the MENAT region, setting a benchmark for infusion therapy and ensuring consistent, top-notch care.

Chris Hunt, Chief Executive Officer of the Infusion Nurses Society, emphasized the organization’s commitment to advancing infusion care standards through innovative resources and learning opportunities. “Teaming up with BD presents a golden opportunity to elevate infusion care practices in the MENAT region. Together, we will empower healthcare professionals with the knowledge and resources necessary to deliver safe, effective, patient-centered care,” he stated.

The initiative will kick off with a thorough assessment of hospitals’ current practices, followed by a detailed action plan aligned with INS Infusion Therapy Standards of Practice and ethics. Clinical simulations and competency validations will also be integrated into the program to ensure that healthcare professionals stay abreast of the latest developments and skills in the field.
