Downpour Deluge: Cannes Hit Hard by Heavy Rainfall
PARIS — As relentless rain pounded Cannes, France, the municipality issued a stark warning on Monday as floodwaters surged through the city.
“Intense storms, occasionally accompanied by hail, are wreaking havoc in our area,” declared the municipality, urging residents to “remain vigilant and stay informed while venturing outdoors.”
Several key areas, including Mimont Street, Sector Commander Maria, and Lower Avenue of Marechal Gallieni, have been shut down to traffic due to the deluge and treacherous conditions.
The municipality reported incidents of flooding in cellars and shops in the République area, but thankfully, no casualties or injuries have been reported thus far.
“The situation is slowly stabilizing,” the official statement reassured. — Agencies
