Russian Concert Hall Attacked by Armed Individuals
MOSCOW — In a shocking turn of events, Russian state media outlets TASS and RIA Novosti have reported a violent shooting incident at the prestigious Crocus City Hall concert hall in the Moscow region. The attack involved three armed individuals and has left casualties and injuries in its wake, although exact numbers have not been confirmed.
“Wearing camouflage attire, a trio of assailants stormed the ground floor of Crocus City Hall and unleashed a hail of gunfire with automatic weapons,” stated a correspondent on the scene, as quoted by RIA Novosti on Friday.
According to further reports by RIA Novosti, the attackers also set off a grenade or an incendiary device, sparking a ferocious blaze within the concert hall. Disturbing video footage captured the raging fire, accompanied by a thick plume of black smoke billowing from the structure.
Despite the chaos, firefighters heroically rescued around 100 individuals from the venue, as confirmed by TASS. Meanwhile, ongoing efforts are focused on saving those stranded on the roof, with assistance coordinated by the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation.
Responding swiftly to the crisis, the Moscow Region Ministry of Health dispatched over 50 ambulance teams to Krasnogorsk, a town in the Moscow region, to provide vital medical aid to the victims of the attack.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin expressed deep sadness over the tragic incident, labeling it as a “terrible tragedy.” “Today, a horrific event unfolded at the Crocus City center.
