Riyadh Delegation Participates in G20 Women Empowerment Working Group Meeting

RIYADH — Led by Dr. Maimoonah Al-Khalil, Secretary-General of the Family Affairs Council, the Kingdom’s delegation joined the Ministerial Meeting for the G20 Women Empowerment Working Group. The event took place in Brasilia, Brazil on October 8-9, 2024.

The meeting, themed “Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet,” delved into crucial topics such as gender equality, the fight against violence and discrimination towards women, and climate justice. Discussions revolved around propelling initiatives that uplift and empower women on a global scale.

Dr. Al-Khalil showcased Saudi Arabia’s strides in women’s empowerment, highlighting the rise in women’s workforce participation to 35.4% by 2024.

Furthermore, she underscored the implementation of the National Policy for Equal Opportunities and Treatment in Employment and Profession in 2023. This policy mirrors Saudi Arabia’s overarching vision for equal opportunities and gender justice. — SG
