Venice Film Crew Tragedy: Assistant Director Dies on Set of ‘Emily in Paris’
In a heartbreaking turn of events, a crew member working on the beloved Netflix series Emily in Paris tragically passed away while filming scenes for its highly anticipated fifth season in the picturesque city of Venice, as reported by Italian media.
Identified as 47-year-old Diego Borella, an assistant director on the show, the man reportedly collapsed in front of his colleagues at Hotel Danieli around 7 p.m. local time while preparations were being made for a scene. Despite the swift response from the show’s medical team and paramedics, he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
“We are deeply saddened to confirm the sudden passing of a member of the Emily in Paris production family,” Paramount Television Studios, the production company behind the series, expressed in a statement to the BBC. “Our hearts go out to the individual’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”
Filming of the romantic comedy was promptly halted following Borella’s tragic death, casting a shadow over the production of the hit show.
