Saudi Ports Authority and Alissa Universal Motors Partner to Establish Logistics Zone at King Abdulaziz Port
In a groundbreaking move, the Saudi Ports Authority “Mawani” and Alissa Universal Motors, a subsidiary of Abdul Latif Alissa Holding Group, have joined forces to create a state-of-the-art logistics zone at King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam. With a whopping investment of SR300 million, this partnership is set to revolutionize the import, storage, and re-export operations for vehicles and spare parts.
The ambitious project involves extensive development and construction works spanning over 382,000 square meters for a period of 20 years. The zone will serve as a dedicated hub for vehicle operations, complete with a warehouse and storage yard to cater to the growing demand in the region.
Acting President of the Saudi Ports Authority, Mazen bin Ahmed Al-Turki, and Managing Director of Abdul Latif Alissa Holding Group, Abdullah bin Abdulmohsen Alissa, sealed the deal in the presence of key officials from both entities. This collaboration underscores Mawani’s commitment to advancing the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, positioning Saudi Arabia as a key player in the global logistics landscape.
The logistics zone will offer a range of vital services, including ready-built warehouses for spare parts storage and open-air storage yards capable of accommodating thousands of vehicles and trucks. This initiative is a strategic step towards enhancing the efficiency of logistics services in the region, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
Notably, King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam recently clinched the prestigious “Port of the Year” award at the ShipTek Awards, recognizing Mawani’s efforts in transforming the port’s infrastructure. With investments exceeding SR7 billion, the development and operation of the port’s container terminals under a BOT model have significantly boosted its container handling capacity, surpassing 7.5 million TEUs.
