SAUDI ARABIA SIGNS AGREEMENT WITH UNDP TO SUPPORT WATER AND SANITATION SECTOR IN SUDAN
In a significant move, Saudi Arabia, represented by King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief), has inked a joint cooperation agreement with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to bolster the water and sanitation sector in Kassala and Gedaref states in Sudan.
The agreement, signed by Dr. Hana Omar from KSRelief and Abdullah Al-Dardari from UNDP, aims to directly benefit 833,520 individuals and indirectly impact 5 million people with a total value of $3.5 million.
As part of the agreement, solar energy systems will be installed for new water stations, distribution points will be expanded, and water user associations will be established. Additionally, water treatment tablets, waste collection equipment, and hygiene supplies will be distributed to vulnerable families and schools.
This collaborative effort underscores Saudi Arabia’s commitment to implementing humanitarian and relief projects globally through KSRelief to enhance the quality of life, provide sustainable environmental solutions, and mitigate the spread of diseases in countries in need.
