Netanyahu’s bold move in Lebanon amid US ceasefire pressure

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu Denies Reports of Imminent Ceasefire in Lebanon

In a bold declaration, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu dismissed media reports suggesting an imminent ceasefire in Lebanon as “incorrect.” He has instructed the Israeli military to continue fighting “with full force.”

As tensions escalate, a fresh wave of Israeli airstrikes pounded Lebanon on Thursday afternoon local time.

The Lebanese state news agency NNA documented attacks on southern and eastern Lebanon, as well as areas bordering Syria.

The Israeli military confirmed its actions, stating that it was “striking Hezbollah terror targets” in the country and targeting infrastructures used for weapon transfers from Syrian territory to Hezbollah.

Sirens blared in northern Israel as approximately 45 rockets were launched toward the country from Lebanon earlier in the day.

Hezbollah retaliated by sending a “barrage of rockets” towards Kiryat Motzkin and military sites north of Haifa, citing defense of Lebanon and solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.

Despite a ceasefire proposal from the United States and France, Netanyahu has not responded and remains committed to the ongoing conflict.

Israel’s Foreign Minister Israel Katz affirmed that “there will be no ceasefire in the north” and vowed to continue the fight against Hezbollah until victory and the safe return of residents to their homes.

Speculation over a potential temporary ceasefire with Hezbollah is believed to be a key factor in Netanyahu’s upcoming trip to New York for the United Nations General Assembly. — CN
