KSIADC partners with top firms to transform King Salman Airport into a global hub

Revolutionizing King Salman International Airport: A Visionary Transformation

RIYADH — Prepare for a groundbreaking metamorphosis at King Salman International Airport (KSIA) as the King Salman International Airport Development Company (KSIADC), a powerhouse subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), joins forces with four industry titans to elevate the airport into a global nexus for tourism, trade, and transportation.

Embarking on this monumental journey, the renowned architecture firm Foster + Partners has been enlisted to craft a comprehensive master plan for the airport, spanning an impressive 57 square kilometers. This visionary blueprint will encompass multiple terminals, six state-of-the-art runways, and a versatile real estate zone, all meticulously designed to encapsulate the rich cultural heritage of Riyadh and immerse travelers in an authentic Saudi experience.

Joining forces with Foster + Partners, the global engineering juggernaut Jacobs will lend its expertise in the intricate design of the new runways and provide invaluable master plan consultancy. Mace, a trailblazer in construction management, will spearhead advanced planning and construction methodologies to ensure that the project adheres to the highest standards of excellence. Additionally, Nera, a distinguished Saudi company specializing in air traffic management solutions, will take the reins in designing the airport’s airspace, leveraging cutting-edge technology to optimize operational efficiency.

Marco Mejia, the dynamic Acting CEO of KSIADC, underscored the significance of these strategic partnerships, affirming, “We are resolute in our mission to establish an airport that will set a new global benchmark in aviation. This transformative project is instrumental in meeting Riyadh’s growing connectivity demands and driving the business, trade, and tourism objectives outlined in Vision 2030.”

The evolution of KSIA is poised to play a pivotal role in positioning Riyadh as a premier international travel destination, offering a seamless and innovative experience for discerning global travelers. Unveiled in a momentous ceremony by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in November 2022, the airport’s master plan aligns seamlessly with the overarching goals of Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to catalyze economic growth and diversify the Kingdom’s economy. — SG
