Major partnership for financial innovation in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia and HSBC Forge Strategic Alliance to Drive Financial Innovation

In a bold move to solidify its position as a hub for financial innovation under Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia has entered into a strategic alliance with HSBC. The signing ceremony, held in London, marks a significant milestone in the partnership between the two banks.

Tony Cripps, the Managing Director and CEO of SAB, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “Our customers’ needs in this rapidly evolving, technology-driven era demand continuous innovation and cutting-edge solutions. As the Kingdom’s premier international bank, we are excited to harness HSBC’s vast scale, capabilities, and expertise to introduce the next generation of banking services in Saudi Arabia.”

Stephen Moss, CEO of HSBC Middle East, North Africa, and Turkiye and Board Member of SAB, echoed Cripps’ sentiments, emphasizing the long-standing partnership between the two banks. “For over 70 years, HSBC and SAB have collaborated to deliver top-tier banking services in Saudi Arabia. This MoU further cements our support for SAB, providing access to HSBC’s innovative solutions for the benefit of customers,” Moss stated.

The MoU is in line with SAB’s growth strategy, which prioritizes accelerating innovation. It also underscores SAB’s dedication to backing Vision 2030 and the Financial Sector Development Plan’s key initiatives aimed at positioning the Kingdom as a leading financial technology and innovation center.

Additionally, the alliance aims to bolster SAB’s position as a frontrunner in the banking sector, ensuring that the bank continues to meet the evolving needs of its customers.

SAB’s commitment to innovation has been recognized through various accolades, including accreditation as an Innovation organization by the Global Innovation Institute (GInI) and the Global Banking Innovation Award for Small and Medium Enterprises by the Digital Banker, making SAB the first bank in the Kingdom to receive such honors.
