Singapore Airlines Adopts New Safety Measures After Turbulence Incident
In the wake of a tragic turbulence incident that resulted in one fatality and numerous injuries, Singapore Airlines has made significant changes to its in-flight safety protocols and flight routes. The airline has taken a more cautious approach to turbulence, implementing policies such as refraining from serving hot drinks or meals when the seatbelt sign is illuminated.
The SQ321 London-Singapore flight, which was forced to make an emergency landing in Bangkok after being hit by severe turbulence, has since altered its route to avoid the area where the incident occurred. The flight has been rerouted over the Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea, as opposed to flying over the specific region in Myanmar where the turbulence struck.
Passengers on the affected flight reported harrowing experiences, with some being thrown around the cabin and sustaining injuries from hitting the ceiling and other objects. Photos from inside the plane showed extensive damage, including gashes in the cabin panels and dislodged oxygen masks.
As of the latest update, 46 passengers and two crew members remain hospitalized in Bangkok, with 20 individuals in intensive care due to severe injuries. Singapore Airlines, known for its top-tier service and safety record, is facing scrutiny following this rare and tragic incident.
