Feline Fiasco: Cat Accidentally Mailed Hundreds of Miles to California
In a bizarre turn of events, a family in the US has been joyfully reunited with their pet cat after she was mistakenly shipped hundreds of miles to California in a package return.
The saga began when Galeana went missing from her home in Utah, sparking a frantic search for the furry feline.
After nearly a week of wandering undetected, Galeana was discovered by an Amazon worker who found her nestled among pairs of steel-toed work boots in a package.
Despite the ordeal of being without food or water for days, the cat was miraculously in good health.
“Galeana has always been drawn to boxes, it’s just part of her quirky personality,” explained Carrie Clark, the relieved cat owner, in an interview with NBC’s Utah affiliate, KSL TV.
Following her rescue from the box, Galeana was taken to a vet where her microchip revealed Ms. Clark’s contact information. The vet then made the surprising call to inform her of the unexpected journey her pet had embarked on.
Overwhelmed by the news, Ms. Clark described it as the “most amazing, insane revelation in the world,” initially questioning its authenticity.
With swift action, Ms. Clark and her husband swiftly flew over 1,000 miles to California to retrieve their beloved cat.
The heartwarming reunion was nothing short of emotional, as Galeana instantly calmed down and relaxed in Ms. Clark’s arms.
Fortunately, a seam in the box had provided enough air for Galeana to breathe, and favorable weather conditions prevented her from freezing or overheating during the unexpected journey.
The BBC reached out to Amazon for comments on the incident.
