MECOTEC Expands into Saudi Arabia in a Bold Move
Germany’s MECOTEC, a powerhouse in the cryo technology industry on a global scale, is ramping up its expansion efforts in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region with a strategic entry into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The company has its sights set on further growth in other key markets within this crucial region.
The decision to enter the Saudi Arabian market comes as MECOTEC sees a prime opportunity to introduce its cutting-edge cryotherapy products to a country that is actively diversifying its economy and society as part of ambitious transformation programs aimed at reshaping the Arab world’s largest economy.
Having established a strong foothold in the UAE, serving as a launchpad for its MENA operations, MECOTEC has swiftly expanded its presence in the region. Starting with just 5 units of its renowned cryo devices in the UAE in 2022, the company has now installed 38 units across MENA in just 18 months, with 80% of them located in the Emirates.
With plans for further expansion, MECOTEC is setting its sights on achieving a level of success in Saudi Arabia that surpasses its achievements in the UAE, aiming to double its impact in the kingdom.
Enrico Klauer, CEO of MECOTEC, states, “We have laid a solid foundation for our operations in MENA through the UAE, particularly in Dubai. Saudi Arabia is the next frontier where we believe our technology is well-suited, aligning perfectly with our strategic objectives.”
As part of its strategy, MECOTEC will actively engage with customers in Saudi Arabia, attentively listening to their needs and preferences while following a meticulously planned roadmap.
The trend of deliberate cold exposure, exemplified by the rise of cryotherapy, is gaining momentum. As highlighted in a recent feature in The New York Times Magazine by Bradley Cooper, cryotherapy is becoming increasingly mainstream, leading to shifts in the industry that offer consumers a wide range of product choices, advanced features, and transparent performance metrics.
Cryotherapy, a non-invasive treatment method, is utilized for muscle recovery, pain relief, and overall well-being. Sessions take place in specialized chambers known as “cryo saunas,” cooled to extremely low temperatures ranging from -85°C to -110°C. This technology caters to various users, particularly those in the wellness, beauty, and sports sectors.
Unlike nitrogen-based cryo chambers that rely on a continuous supply of liquid nitrogen, resulting in high long-term costs and safety concerns, MECOTEC’s electrically operated cryo chambers, such as the flagship “cryo:one” chambers, offer a safer, more reliable, and comfortable alternative.
Through enhanced productivity, transparency, and investments in production capabilities, MECOTEC has managed to provide cost-effective solutions to its customers.
Founded in 2006 and headquartered in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, MECOTEC has evolved from a pioneer in cryo technology to a leading global company specializing in high-tech cooling solutions for the pharmaceutical, wellness, and sports industries.
