Middle East on the Brink of Regional War: EU’s Josep Borrell Issues Terrifying Warning

EU Foreign Policy Chief Warns of Imminent Regional War in the Middle East

ROME — EU Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell has issued a stark warning, stating that the Middle East is teetering on the brink of a regional war.

His remarks came during a meeting of G7 foreign ministers on the picturesque Italian island of Capri, where discussions are centered on the ongoing conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine.

“The humanitarian crisis persists,” Borrell emphasized. “While humanitarian aid has increased, it remains woefully inadequate. We urge Israel to respond with restraint to Iranian attacks. Escalation is not an option.”

“I do not wish to alarm, but we are standing on the precipice of a potential regional war in the Middle East, with ramifications that will reverberate across the globe, particularly in Europe. It must be prevented,” he added.

The ministers are also addressing the prolonged conflict in Ukraine, with Borrell urging Western nations to expedite military assistance to Kyiv.

“It is imperative that Ukraine’s allies step up their efforts to equip Ukraine with the resources it requires to effectively defend itself against Russian aggression,” echoed US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

“This entails approving the supplementary budget request made by the president for Ukraine, which we hope will be deliberated in the House this weekend.”

The US and various European countries are exploring options to utilize funds from frozen Russian assets to bolster Ukraine’s defense capabilities, as US efforts to secure financial support for weaponry have hit obstacles in Congress. — Euronews
