Stanford’s Shocking Revelation: Saudi Arabia Leads in Al Strategy

Saudi Arabia Leads the Way in Artificial Intelligence Development

In a groundbreaking move, Saudi Arabia has been recognized as one of the top countries in the world to establish a national strategy for artificial intelligence. This prestigious ranking comes from the recently published Stanford University International Index for AI 2024, a crucial resource for policymakers, researchers, and experts in the field.

This achievement solidifies Saudi Arabia’s position as a global leader in data and AI, showcasing the successful implementation of the goals set out in Saudi Vision 2030. A staggering 70% of the vision is directly linked to AI, demonstrating the country’s commitment to innovation and technological advancement. Saudi Arabia excels in various global indicators, particularly in the field of AI.

Established in 2019, the Saudi Data & AI Authority (SDAIA) is at the forefront of managing data, including big data, and overseeing AI initiatives. It serves as the national authority for organizing, developing, and regulating all matters related to data and AI.

SDAIA’s mission is to revamp the national data and AI agenda, implementing it on a large scale to propel Saudi Arabia to the forefront of economies driven by information, data, and AI. This strategic step aligns with the country’s remarkable achievements in 2023 when it secured the top spot in the Government Strategy Index for AI, a key global classification by “Tortoise Intelligence” that evaluates over 60 countries worldwide.

Furthermore, Saudi Arabia clinched the second position globally in terms of societal awareness of AI, as per the Stanford University International Index for AI 2023. This latest recognition solidifies the country’s commitment to embracing AI technologies and fostering a culture of innovation. — SG
