Gaza Residents Uncover Bodies Around Al-Shifa Hospital
In a grim discovery, fifteen bodies were unearthed on Monday near Al-Shifa hospital as Gaza residents and medical crews continued their search efforts following the Israeli military’s withdrawal from the area two weeks ago, according to reports from CNN.
Health workers and locals in northern Gaza have been tirelessly digging through what they suspect are mass graves, desperately seeking their missing loved ones. They allege that Israeli forces mercilessly killed hundreds of Palestinians and callously left their bodies to rot during a two-week siege of the complex.
One ambulance driver, Adel Al-Mash-Harawi, recounted the harrowing task of extracting the bodies buried within Al-Shifa medical complex, revealing, “We came here at 9 a.m. with an excavator and excavated 15 bodies.”
Gaza Civil Defense spokesperson disclosed that hundreds of bodies have been recovered from the vicinity of the hospital complex since the siege ended on April 1.
Video footage captured by CNN showcases medical personnel, some donning UN-marked vests, navigating through piles of sand and unearthing bodies. White body bags, labeled with either “unidentified body” or names, lay scattered at the excavation site.
One grieving resident, Mohammad Al-Khateeb, bid a sorrowful farewell to his mother, who perished during the Israeli occupation of Al-Shifa hospital. Recounting the tragic ordeal, he lamented, “The hospital was turned into a big mass of rubble.”
Another heart-wrenching account came from Waleed Abu-Laila, who finally located his mother’s body after days of relentless searching. He tearfully identified her from distinct markings due to previous injuries.
Disturbingly, Abu-Laila unveiled his mother’s decomposed remains from a white body bag, underscoring the inhumane conditions endured during the siege.
Despite allegations of mass casualties, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have remained tight-lipped on the matter, providing no substantiating evidence. The IDF has asserted that “hundreds of terrorists were killed or captured” during the onslaught, yet no concrete proof has been furnished. — CNN
