Tragic Shooting Leaves Two Dead and Five Injured in Washington, DC
In the early hours of Sunday morning, chaos erupted in Washington, DC as a shooting left two people dead and five others wounded, according to police reports.
The incident occurred around 3 a.m. near the intersection of 7th and P Street Northwest, close to the Kennedy Recreation Center, as confirmed by the Metropolitan Police Department.
The victims were identified as 32-year-old Anthony Brown from Washington, DC, and 32-year-old Jay Lucks from Baltimore, both of whom tragically lost their lives.
Authorities rushed the injured victims, all adults, to local hospitals, although their current conditions remain unknown, stated Metropolitan Police Executive Assistant Chief Jeffrey Carroll during a press briefing.
The circumstances leading up to the shooting and the identity of the shooter are still unclear, with the incident taking place just blocks away from the White House. As of now, no arrests have been made and no suspects have been named in connection to the case.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the motive behind the shooting, with initial findings suggesting that one or more suspects deliberately fired at the victims, as per police statements.
To encourage cooperation from the public, the MPD has announced a $50,000 reward for anyone who provides information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
