Formula E Team Nissan dominates Miami with pole position & double points

Petromin Corporation and Nissan Formula E Team: A Thrilling Partnership

In the electrifying world of Formula E, Petromin Corporation’s e-mobility subsidiary, Electromin, is making waves with its ongoing partnership with the Nissan Formula E Team. The recent Round 5 of the 2024/25 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in Miami was a testament to their collaboration.

The highlight of the weekend was driver Norman Nato clinching Nissan’s first pole position of the season and crossing the finish line first, showcasing exceptional skill and determination despite a post-race penalty shaking up the final standings.

This partnership underscores Petromin’s dedication to advancing sustainable mobility and leading the charge in electric vehicle innovation on a global scale. The Nissan Formula E Team displayed unwavering resilience and adaptability in one of the most competitive races of the season.

Although a podium finish eluded them, Norman Nato, Oliver Rowland, and the team delivered a commendable performance, earning crucial points and valuable insights for the championship ahead.

Norman Nato’s standout performance in qualifying, securing his first-ever Julius Baer Pole Position trophy with an impressive lap, set the tone for the race. Meanwhile, Oliver Rowland faced tough competition in the Group A session, narrowly missing a top-four spot and starting 16th on the grid.

As the race unfolded in Miami, Nato maintained his lead while Rowland strategically managed energy and navigated through the pack. A red flag on Lap 22 reshuffled the positions, with Nato in P6 and Rowland in P11, both with minutes of Attack Mode remaining. Despite deploying the extra power at the restart, both drivers incurred post-race penalties, with Nato finishing sixth and Rowland tenth, securing valuable points for the team.

“We were inches away from turning our luck around after a challenging qualifying session as we crossed the finish line in fourth,” reflected Rowland. “Despite the setback, we remain focused on improving our qualifying performance for the upcoming races, starting with Monaco.”

Norman Nato expressed his satisfaction with his maiden Formula E pole position and the solid points haul, despite the penalty. He acknowledged the team’s strength and his own comfort in the car, highlighting the positive aspects to build on for future races.

Tommaso Volpe, Managing Director and Team Principal of Nissan Formula E Team, emphasized the weekend’s highs and lows, expressing cautious optimism and determination to continue the fight for championship glory.

With valuable lessons learned in Miami, the team is gearing up to enhance their performance in the upcoming races. Kalyana Sivagnanam, Group CEO of Petromin Corporation, emphasized the importance of Formula E as the future of motorsport and their collaboration with Nissan as a showcase of innovation, efficiency, and sustainability.

Looking ahead, the Nissan Formula E Team and Electromin are focused on the next challenge, aiming to solidify their presence in the championship arena. The excitement continues with Formula E returning on May 3–4 for the first-ever double-header in Monte-Carlo.
